Autumn Long Lunch Series Returns to Rathmore

Sundays in April 2026 | 11am–2pm | Rathmore, Central Highlands

This April, Rathmore in Tasmania’s Central Highlands opens the doors of its historic wool shed for a series of relaxed and richly local long lunches, inviting guests to slow down and experience the season at the table.

Running across four Sundays in April, the Autumn Long Lunch Series brings together seasonal food, storytelling, and heritage in a setting that speaks to the region’s pastoral history.

Set within Rathmore’s beautifully restored wool shed, each gathering begins with canapés on arrival before guests settle in for a shared long lunch centred around Rathmore-bred lamb. The menu reflects the flavours of autumn, paired with a considered selection of Tasmanian beverages, and a focus on provenance and place.

Beyond the food, each event offers a deeper connection to the Central Highlands through a curated program of conversations. Topics range from the enduring mystery of the thylacine and Tasmania’s dark skies, to Highland whisky and the rail history that helped shape the region.

The opening lunch on Sunday 5 April will also feature the unveiling of a newly introduced historical artefact, offering a glimpse into Rathmore’s past and its role as a gathering place for community events in the early 1900s.

With limited seating, the series is designed to remain intimate, encouraging shared tables, conversation, and a slower pace that reflects the rhythm of an autumn Sunday in the Highlands.

For visitors, it’s an opportunity to experience a working farm property in a way that goes beyond the usual, combining food, history, and landscape into a single afternoon.
