The much-anticipated Cygnet Cycling Festival returns, offering an exhilarating mix of elite races and family-friendly rides in one of Tasmania’s most scenic regions, the Huon Valley.
Set to kick off at 9:00 am on Saturday the 9th September 2024, the festival promises something for cyclists of all ages and skill levels. Organised by Eudaimonia Tasmanian Cycling Tours and supported by Destination Southern Tasmania, this year’s event brings both seasoned athletes and community members together to celebrate cycling and the beauty of the Huon Valley.

Festival Highlights
The 2024 festival will feature four distinctive cycling events designed to engage everyone from casual riders to competitive athletes:
5km Community Ride:
A new addition this year, welcoming locals and visitors alike to join in a relaxed ride, making the festival more inclusive and accessible.
16km Junior Ride:
Tailored for younger riders looking to challenge themselves in a supportive environment.
26km Social Ride:
Perfect for recreational cyclists eager to enjoy the scenic surroundings of Cygnet.
60km State Championships Race:
The pinnacle of the festival, drawing national-level competitors including World Junior Time Trial Champion, Felicity Wilson Haffenden. Cyclists will compete for top honours, promising thrilling action for both participants and spectators.
Eudaimonia Tasmanian Cycling Tours Director and Festival Organiser, Sofia Tsamassiros, expressed enthusiasm for the diverse offerings of this year’s festival. “We’re thrilled to add the 5km community ride this year, allowing greater engagement with our local community. It’s wonderful to bring everyone together to experience the joy of cycling and the spirit of the festival,” she said.
Destination Southern Tasmania CEO Alex Heroys highlighted the festival’s appeal as more than just a sports event, saying, “The festival draws elite athletes, competitors, and families to one of Tasmania’s most beautiful regions. It’s an opportunity for everyone to participate or cheer on the cyclists, and then enjoy the fabulous food and wine the Huon Valley has to offer.”
