Frogmore Creek has reaffirmed its place among Tasmania’s most distinguished wineries, with its 2024 42 Degrees South Pinot Noir awarded the prestigious Tasmania Trophy at the 2025 Australian Pinot Noir Challenge.
The award was announced at a gala dinner held at Maison Bâtard in Melbourne on Tuesday 7 October, where Winemaker John Bown proudly accepted the honour on behalf of the team. With more than 300 entries judged from across the country, this respected national competition celebrates the finest examples of Australian Pinot Noir — and Frogmore Creek has emerged as Tasmania’s standout winery.
“It’s a tremendous honour to accept this award,” said John Bown, Winemaker at Frogmore Creek. “The 2024 vintage delivered beautiful fruit and natural balance, and this wine reflects both the place and the season in a very pure way.”
Senior Winemaker Alain Rousseau also shared his pride in the achievement and its broader significance for the brand.
“This is a very proud moment for the team,” said Rousseau. “It recognises the hard work and passion behind every bottle, and highlights the importance of this wine within our portfolio. The 42 Degrees South Pinot is a flagship for us — and of course, the Frogmore Creek Pinot Noir remains my signature wine.”
The award-winning wine is available now in restaurants and bottle shops across Australia, and the team encourages wine lovers to experience this exceptional Tasmanian vintage for themselves.
At Frogmore Creek’s acclaimed cellar door and restaurant, just 20 minutes from Hobart, guests can sample the full range of award-winning wines in an elegant setting overlooking the Coal River Valley. A favourite among locals and visitors alike, the venue continues to earn national recognition and is proud to add this latest accolade to its growing collection.
“We can’t wait to share what we’ve crafted for the 2025 vintage,” added Rousseau. “It’s shaping up to be something truly special.”
