Set amongst the estate’s coastal farmland, orchards and open rural landscape, the lavender field gives visitors the opportunity to wander through rows of blooming lavender, take in picturesque water views and enjoy a relaxing countryside escape without an entry fee.
First established in 2025, the lavender field was featured by Australian Traveller in early 2026 as a new lavender experience in Tasmania.
The field features five varieties of lavender, selected for their colour, fragrance and ability to support local pollinators, including bees and butterflies. Flowering season generally runs from late December to early February, creating a colourful seasonal attraction for visitors travelling through Southern Tasmania.
“We wanted to create an experience that celebrates the natural beauty of the region and encourages visitors to slow down and enjoy everything Southern Tasmania has to offer,” said Rod Black, General Manager of Iron Creek Bay Estate.
“Whether guests are stopping by on their way to the Tasman Peninsula or spending the day with us, the lavender field adds another memorable experience to our estate and complements our accommodation, dining and seasonal activities.”
The lavender field forms part of Iron Creek Bay Estate’s growing collection of visitor experiences. Guests can enjoy lunch or dinner at ORANI Restaurant, stay in the estate’s accommodation, explore the grounds, meet the farm animals or take part in seasonal activities.
Adding to the summer offering, the estate’s popular Cherry Picking Experience will also return, allowing visitors to purchase tickets and pick fresh Tasmanian cherries straight from the orchard.
Together, the lavender field and cherry-picking experience create a seasonal destination where visitors can enjoy Tasmania’s natural beauty, local produce and rural character in one location.
Situated along the Arthur Highway, Iron Creek Bay Estate is an ideal stop between Hobart and the Tasman Peninsula, inviting visitors to eat, stay, play and experience more of Southern Tasmania.
Iron Creek Bay Estate is a waterfront tourism destination located in Sorell, Tasmania. Combining accommodation, dining, farm experiences and seasonal attractions, the estate offers visitors an authentic Tasmanian experience just 25 minutes from Hobart. Home to ORANI Restaurant, waterfront accommodation, orchards, farm animals, seasonal cherry picking and a free-to-visit lavender field, Iron Creek Bay Estate continues to grow as a must-visit destination in Southern Tasmania.
