- Jetstar fare sale brings cheaper flights to southern Tasmania
Tourism Tasmania has partnered with Jetstar on a major fare sale, with discounted flights to Tasmania available from as little as $48 one way.
For travellers heading to southern Tasmania, headline fares include Newcastle to Hobart from $59, Melbourne to Hobart from $69 and Sydney to Hobart from $79. Further sale fares are available from Adelaide to Hobart from $87, Gold Coast to Hobart from $106 and Brisbane to Hobart from $117.
The sale runs until 11:59pm AEST on Tuesday 28 July 2026, unless fares sell out earlier.
Discounted fares apply to travel on select dates between 12 August 2026 and 17 March 2027, with travel periods and prices varying by route.
More reasons to visit southern Tasmania
The broad travel window gives visitors the chance to experience southern Tasmania across winter, spring and summer.
Winter brings cold-climate experiences, dark skies, seasonal dining, whisky, floating saunas and events including Beaker Street Festival. As the days lengthen, spring and summer open the door to coastal drives, walking trails, wineries, wildlife encounters, beaches and regional touring.
The sale also covers a strong period for major events, including the Australian Wooden Boat Festival in February 2027 and A Taste of the Huon in March 2027.
With direct sale fares available into Hobart from several mainland cities, the campaign may help make a southern Tasmanian break more accessible for visitors considering a short stay, event trip or longer regional holiday.
Visit the Jetstar website for bookings, eligible travel dates and full terms and conditions.
An opportunity for southern Tasmanian tourism businesses
Tourism operators can leverage the increased visibility and lower fares by sharing the sale through their own channels and connecting it with relevant accommodation, experiences and events.
Businesses may also consider aligning their promotions with the available travel dates, particularly where their product suits a winter escape, spring break, summer holiday or major event itinerary.
The short booking window gives travellers a timely reason to plan ahead, while the extended travel period provides plenty of opportunities to explore Hobart and the surrounding regions.
