Entries are now open for the all-new Run Tasmania Stage Race, a four-day trail running event set to take runners through some of Southern Tasmania’s most dramatic landscapes from 25–28 November 2026.
Based around Hobart and the Tasman Peninsula, the stage race invites participants to experience Tasmania’s wild places on foot, combining challenging trails with coastal, alpine and forested terrain — all within easy reach of the city.
Delivered by Rapid Ascent, the team behind the Run Larapinta Stage Race and Margaret River Ultra Marathon, the event follows a proven multi-day format that has built a strong national trail running community.
Participants can choose between two course options:
the Devil Long Course, with daily stages ranging from 15 to 25 kilometres for experienced runners, and the Quoll Short Course, offering a more accessible but equally scenic experience with distances between 10 and 23 kilometres.
Each day showcases a different side of Southern Tasmania. The race begins on coastal trails around Kingston, before heading into the alpine environment of kunanyi / Mount Wellington on day two. Day three explores ancient rainforest near Fortescue Bay on the Tasman Peninsula, with the final stage set along the spectacular clifftop trails of Cape Raoul, followed by post-race celebrations.
Event Director Sam Maffett says the focus is on both challenge and connection.
“Run Tasmania isn’t just about racing — it’s about discovering Tasmania’s raw natural beauty and sharing the experience with a community of fellow adventurers.”
The event has been designed to be logistically simple for interstate and travelling runners, with coordinated accommodation partners, daily shuttle buses, on-course aid stations and evening functions. No support crew is required.
Supported by the Tasmanian Government through Events Tasmania, the Run Tasmania Stage Race is expected to deliver strong benefits for the local tourism sector, with competitors and supporters travelling across the region during the four-day event.
Entries are strictly limited to 300 runners to protect the natural environment and ensure a high-quality experience.
