Designed for time-poor travellers, this condensed three-day journey delivers rare access to one of the world’s last true wildernesses.
Travelling aboard Odalisque III — a 24-metre catamaran purpose-built in Tasmania for immersive wilderness encounters — guests are treated to an itinerary that captures the essence of Port Davey. Still waterways, Huon pine-lined rivers, wild Southern Ocean beaches and dramatic coastal cliffs provide the backdrop for exploration and quiet reflection.
The adventure begins with a spectacular seaplane flight from Hobart, soaring over the jagged Arthur Range and iconic Federation Peak before touching down beside Odalisque III. From there, guests spend two nights and three days exploring this UNESCO-listed World Heritage Wilderness Area, guided by On Board’s all-Tasmanian crew. Their deep knowledge of the region’s geology, wildlife and cultural heritage — including the enduring stories of the Needwonnee and Ninene people, the land’s first custodians — enriches every moment.
Travellers can choose their pace, whether that’s heart-pumping hikes and sea-cave adventures, or time to simply pause and absorb the vast silence of the harbour. Evenings invite a slower rhythm, with Tasmanian wines and whiskies shared in the Wheelhouse Lounge, and seasonal feasts served around a handcrafted Huon pine table from the Huon River township of Franklin. Private suites with sweeping wilderness views provide the perfect retreat, with starlit skies and the Southern Cross above.
“Port Davey is the kind of place that makes three days feel like weeks,” says Alice van der Woude, On Board’s Director of Marketing & Experience. “Whether you’re out exploring or simply pausing to take in the quiet vastness, it’s the sort of place that stays with you long after you’ve gone home.”
For those seeking a longer stay, On Board continues to offer its signature 4- and 6-night Port Davey expeditions, allowing guests to immerse more deeply in this extraordinary region.
