- Sunday Pop-Up Market Returns to Long Beach in Sandy Bay
After a six‑year hiatus, the Sunday Pop Up Series will relaunch at Long Beach, Sandy Bay, bringing a relaxed, community‑focused market atmosphere back to one of Hobart’s most scenic waterfront locations.
The series begins on Sunday 28 June, with markets running from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm.
A fresh reason to visit on Sundays
After last operating in 2019, the Sunday Pop-Up Series will relaunch at Long Beach on Sunday 28 June, running from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. The daytime market offers an easy add‑on for visitors exploring Sandy Bay and the wider southern region.
Guests can expect local artisan stalls, street food vendors, live music, handmade products and a relaxed, family‑friendly atmosphere by the beach. Dogs on leads are welcome, making it an appealing outing for families, friends and their four‑legged companions alike.
Supporting local makers in winter
The market’s return is an important boost for small businesses and stallholders, providing another opportunity to trade during the traditionally quieter winter months. Backed by Hobart City Council approval, the event allows local creatives, producers and entrepreneurs to continue showcasing their work to both locals and visitors.
Markets play a valuable role in the visitor economy, encouraging spending with local operators and helping to share Tasmanian stories through food, design and craft. For tourism operators, the Sunday Pop-Up Market offers an additional experience to recommend to guests looking to fill a winter weekend in Hobart.
A year-round market presence
In addition to the Long Beach series, the organisers have also secured dates for their Brooke Street Pier waterfront market, with the upcoming season commencing in July. This event remains a popular inclusion in visitor itineraries and continues to be proudly supported by TasPorts.
Organisers have further confirmed the return of their iconic Friday night series from 2 October, extending the market offering into the warmer months. Together, these events contribute to a strong year‑round program that supports local traders and enhances the appeal of southern Tasmania as a vibrant, events‑rich destination.
