Tasmania’s Seafood Festival Lands on Hobart’s Waterfront

Victoria Dock will come alive across the March long weekend as Tasmania’s newest seafood celebration makes its debut from 7–9 March 2026.

Presented by Mures Tasmania and proudly supported by TasPorts, the free three-day festival will showcase the depth, quality and character of Tasmania’s coastal produce. Running from 11am–10pm Saturday and Sunday, and 11am–8pm Monday, the event invites locals and visitors to gather on Hobart’s working waterfront for a relaxed celebration of seafood, community and craft.

Across the dock, festivalgoers can explore a wide range of flavours — from chargrilled octopus, scallops and southern rock lobster at the Seafarer’s BBQ, to Cajun-style seafood parcels perfect for sharing. There’ll be woodfired seafood pizzas, squid-ink and saffron paella, lobster linguini tossed in a parmesan wheel, fresh Tasmanian oysters paired with sparkling wine, and comforting chowders and fish pies.

Tasmanian wines, local beer, cocktails featuring 7K Island Spirits, and a dedicated non-alcoholic bar ensure there’s something for every taste.

Beyond the plates, the program brings the seafood industry to centre stage. On-stage demonstrations (1–3pm daily) will include a whole southern bluefin tuna carving, oyster shucking, and collaborations between producers and chefs. Meet-the-maker sessions offer the chance to connect directly with fishers, winemakers and distillers, while live music from Tassie soloists, bands and DJs will carry the atmosphere well into the evening.

Families are well catered for, with the first 100 children through the gates each day receiving a free festival hat. The Small Fry Activity Tent will host hands-on fun including cookie decorating, face painting, roaming entertainers and interactive games.

Tasmania’s Seafood Festival is more than a food event — it’s a celebration of coastal culture, industry, and place. Victoria Dock will be the meeting point this March long weekend.
