Tesoro Launches Tableside Cacio e Pepe Cheese Wheel Experience

Tesoro at Mövenpick Hotel Hobart has introduced a new tableside dining experience that brings one of Rome’s most loved pasta traditions to Hobart.

The cacio e pepe cheese wheel experience turns a classic dish into a shared moment of theatre, flavour and connection.

The experience

House-made linguini arrives at the table alongside a striking 25-kilogram wheel of Italian Pecorino Romano. Finished tableside, the pasta is tossed inside the warmed wheel with cracked black pepper. The heat of the linguini gently melts the cheese, creating a rich, silky sauce that coats every strand. The result is simple, bold and deeply satisfying — and just as much about the moment as the meal.

Every detail is deliberate. The linguini is made in-house each day. The Pecorino Romano is selected for its sharpness and authenticity. The technique, rooted in Roman tradition, is presented with a sense of occasion that suits Tesoro’s relaxed yet refined setting.

Craft, tradition and atmosphere

Andrew Walling, General Manager of Mövenpick Hotel Hobart, said the new experience reflects the restaurant’s approach to dining.

“Tesoro’s cheese wheel experience brings together tradition, provenance and quality ingredients, with a real sense of occasion. It’s designed for sharing, conversation and enjoyment, and fits beautifully with the warm, welcoming atmosphere we aim to create.”
