The much-anticipated Beaker Street Festival is locked in for 2024, bringing its signature fusion of science and art to the Tasmanian winter for the eighth year.
The Festival will run for two weeks in August 2024, with a focal weekend of events from August 9 to 11. The immersive program will be centred in southern Tasmania, with a Festival precinct spanning out from the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery in Hobart.
Minister for Stadia and Events Nic Street threw his enthusiasm behind this celebrated event labelling it a must attend.
“Attendees can expect insightful conversations, captivating performances and installations, and opportunities to explore the State’s bucket-list destinations alongside top scientists, chefs, and fellow curious minds,” Minister Street said.
“The Rockliff Liberal Government’s Event Strategy 2023-27 is all about supporting events that deliver across three pillars: economic, social and brand value and Beaker Street has all three in spades.
“Through Events Tasmania, the Rockliff Liberal Government has proudly nurtured this event and currently invests $150,000 to bring the Festival to life each year in 2023, 2024 and 2025.
“This is a smorgasbord of Tassie’s finest offerings, and I encourage everyone to get down during the next winter to feed your curiosity or bring out your inner scientist.”
Attendees can anticipate an event that not only educates and entertains, but also celebrates the diverse and rich tapestry of Tasmanian culture.
Festival Founder, and Director, Dr Margo Adler, shared her excitement for the forthcoming edition.
“We’re coming off an incredible 2023 festival, freshly inspired by the creativity and inventiveness of our community. As we delve into planning for 2024, I’m thrilled about the experiences we’re curating. We’re embracing the essence of Beaker Street – the fusion of science, art, and the unparalleled beauty of Tasmania,” Dr Adler said.
“You’ll find endless opportunities to satisfy your curiosity, with a bounty of free and ticketed events blending the wonders of science with the best of Tasmania’s gastronomy, pristine environments, and vibrant creative and cultural scenes.
“Whether you’re a curious mind, an insatiable foodie, or are simply seeking an off-the-beaten-path adventure, our festival promises a mix of wonder, flavour, and scientifically-proven fun.
The Beaker Street Festival program will be announced in early 2024, with tickets expected to be released in May.
