How to work with cruise guide

Tourism Tasmania has produced a guide for Tasmanian tourism and retail businesses looking to offer product to the cruise shipping market.

The guide provides information on how to deliver shore experiences to passengers, who to work with, and how the cruise distribution system works.

The guide also provides information on different cruise lines and their passenger demographics as well as key contacts and useful links.

As part of ensuring a professional approach with cruise visitors in Hobart, Destination Southern Tasmania (DST) has negotiated hawking permits with TasPorts for independent tour operators. This allows businesses to promote and sell their services in a designated area adjacent to the cruise terminal for the 2025/2026 cruise season.

Thank you for your interest in being part of the advertising opportunity at MAC 2 for the upcoming Cruise Season. We have partnered with TasPorts to have your Poster displayed over an approx 6-month period,
commencing 21 October 2025 and ending 20 April 2026 (68 ship arrivals into Hobart, an estimated 163,000 passengers and crew).

Alcohol Guide for Australian Ports

When it comes to bringing alcohol on board, policies vary by cruise line. Australian Cruise Association (ACA) have compiled acomprehensive list of alcohol policies of all major cruise lines that operate in Australia.

These brochures are for cruise lines and expedition cruise deployment teams as they plan future cruise itineraries and gain local destination knowledge on how to showcase the best of Tasmania.

The Shore Excursions Tasmania Guide is aimed at helping cruise shore excursion operators and cruise line product teams adapt and evolve shore excursion programs tailored to cruise passenger trends, whilst improving dispersal and value contribution to our visitor economy.
